Until the last decade, a good healthy diet was expected to be fat free. And we ushered in an era of joint pains! The new thing is the Keto diet. Both extremes come with their own adversities.

Ideally a balanced diet would consist of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, in right proportions. Our cell membranes are made up of Lipids- fats and proteins, embedded with other nutrients. Vitamins A, D, E and K are only "fat"-soluble. Fats are of Animal origin as well as of Plant origin. Heavy chemically treated vegetable oils should be restricted too due to their factory-bulk production procedures involving heavy chemical treatment that strip them off any flavor, character or nutrients. Meat or chicken fat is not so welcome by all of us, and isn’t as healthy - even though Americans recently washed their hands off the cholesterol theory.

Ghee has been around since ages, which as per Ayurveda has very high significance in order to enhance immunity and longevity. Easy to consume, not greasy if made from curds as compared to non-fermented cream or direct-butter ghee, with a very pleasant taste. Consuming 2-3 teaspoons of ghee will improve digestion, absorption, reduce constipation, reduce hyper-acidity, and most importantly will keep the joints healthy.

Our brain cells are made up of fat to a notable extent. Having ghee will mean better memory.

And Bravo if you get it the organic way - There can be nothing healthier!

Do not fear Ghee. Ghee in appropriate amounts is good for health.
