1 Cook the base


1. Pressure cook tur dal and rice together until soft. In another pot, lightly boil vegetables with salt and turmeric.

2 Prepare masala


2. If using homemade Bisi Bele Bath masala, dry roast spices and grind.

3 Combine


3. Mix cooked dal-rice, boiled vegetables, tamarind pulp, and Bisi Bele Bath masala. Simmer for 10–15 minutes to thicken and meld.

4 Temper


4. Heat TBOF Groundnut Oil or Ghee. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, dry chillies, and hing. Pour this tempering over the hot mixture.

5 Finish


5. Stir in a big spoon of TBOF A2 Ghee. Top with ghee-roasted cashews if desired.
