Assistant Manager – Production

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Assistant Manager – Production to manage end-to-end production operations and support new project executions at our Indapur facility. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in FMCG or food manufacturing, with hands-on experience in CAPEX planning, project management, and factory-level execution. The role requires strong leadership and collaboration skills to ensure seamless coordination between Production, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Execution

  • Plan and manage daily production activities to achieve output, quality, and efficiency targets.
  • Coordinate with Planning and SCM teams to align production schedules with demand forecasts.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and maintain consistent product quality across categories (ghee, jaggery, nut butters, etc.).

2. Project & CAPEX Management

  • Identify and evaluate CAPEX requirements for new equipment, process improvements, and factory expansions.
  • Prepare project feasibility reports, budget proposals, and ROI analyses.
  • Oversee hands-on execution of factory projects including equipment installation, layout design, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Finance) to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Manage vendor coordination, project timelines, and compliance with safety and quality standards during execution.

3. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze process performance to identify gaps and drive efficiency improvements.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce wastage.
  • Support process automation and upgradation projects to improve output and consistency.

4. Quality & Compliance

  • Work closely with the QA team to maintain FSSAI, GMP, and organic certification standards.
  • Conduct regular quality checks and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Maintain all documentation for audits, certifications, and inspections.

5. Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise production teams, ensuring optimal manpower utilization and shift efficiency.
  • Conduct training sessions on process adherence, hygiene, and safety.
  • Foster a culture of discipline, accountability, and teamwork.

6. Inventory & Cost Control

  • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams for timely availability of raw and packaging materials.
  • Track production costs and ensure alignment with budget goals.
  • Minimize wastage, rework, and downtime.

7. Equipment & Maintenance Coordination

  • Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed with support from the engineering team.
  • Monitor machine health, address breakdowns, and implement corrective actions.

8. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain production, manpower, and downtime reports.
  • Share key metrics and improvement updates with senior management.

Qualification & Skills:

  • Qualification: B.Tech / B.Sc / M.Sc in Food Technology, Food Science, or related field.

  • Experience: 4–5 years of experience in FMCG / food manufacturing / processing units.

  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of food production machinery, process optimization, GMP, HACCP, and FSSAI standards.

  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and team management abilities.

  • Preferred: Candidates with prior experience in dairy, ghee, jaggery, or organic food production.
