The Two Brothers Byadgi Chilli is grown in the Byadgi region, Haveri district of the state of Karnataka. Byadgi Chilli was accorded the GI Tag in 2011 for its distinct wrinkled shape, long size, deep red colour and characteristic low spicy-sweet flavour.
Byadagi Chillies of the Dabbi variety are small and stout in shape, lends a not-so spicy taste and rich red colour to curries. It has more seeds compared to the Kaddi variety but is less spicy and is one of the main ingredients of the Ghee roast masala that Karnataka is famous for!
