Konkan Red is traditionally Grown in Konkan Region since centuries, It is highly medicinal

It has low amylose, high zinc, iron,riboflavin and antioxidant properties. Their nutritional

and physicochemical properties are used for making soup, locally known as Pej and served

to children, women and patients for their daily breakfast. Used by Lactating Mothers.

Konkan Red serves perfect Rice for those who want to switch from White to Brown Rice.


Konkan Red also known as Laal Bhaat is primarily grown in and around Southern parts of Konkan

  • Soak rice in water for 4 to 5 Hrs.. 
  • Drain water.  This will do away with the extra starch (You can Use Drained Water as Shampoo For Hair or use as Face mask)
  • Take a deep thick bottomed pan. 
  • Heat 1 tsp oil. Add rice and saute for 1 minute. 
  • Add 2.25 cups hot water. 
  • Turn heat to low and cover the pan for 15 - 20 minutes. 
  • Do not wash the rice too much
